NEW REGULATION FOR RECYCLING PLASTICS FOR FOOD CONTACT

The layout of the final draft of the regulation is divided as follows:

I The basic rules

II assessment and authorization

III controls of recycling installation

IV final provisions and transition time

The workshop, based on the new draft of the regulation, will focus in particular on:

– the input requirements to ensure the output: materials and finished objects in recycled plastic,

– the demonstration of safety: the decontamination phase, conditions of use and restrictions on use.

– the new operational technical concepts which are: Suitable Technology (Mechanical recycling of PET with authorization and Closed-loop without authorisation), Novel Technology and Recycling Schemes, introduced by the new regulation

– the Register of Authorized Processes, Official Controls and Compliance Monitoring Summary Sheet (monitoring dossier)

– the detailed declaration models in the annexes to the new regulation:

1. a) Declaration of Compliance to be used by recyclers

b) Declaration of compliance to be used converters if the converted material contains only recycled content
